Things To Do in London Cheaply This Summer

Living in London, the summer holidays can be an expensive time for students (such as myself!). It seems everything you may want to do is extremely costly, whether it be days out to places like theme parks (£50 for one ticket!) or West End shows. Here are a few ideas of ways to save money going places/what to do on a budget/free activities.

TIP 1: 2 For 1 Books
I look out for these 2 for 1 voucher books at train stations, as many attractions offer a buy-one-get-one-free deal if you have a valid train ticket, for example Chessington Theme Park, Madame Tussauds, and exhibitions.

Make use of the free London days out
What about a picnic in one of London's amazing parks? Or visit a new museum? I fancy seeing the Wallace Collection this summer, or the Institute of Sexology at the Wellcome Colleciton.

TIP 2: Local Activities
Local councils in London hold many free events not restricted to the inhabitants of that area - festivals in local parks to discounted days at lidos. A day at an open-air swimming pool is definitely something on my summer agenda.

Do something at home
Have a movie day, a campout in the garden/living room, or hold a tea party! Using things you already own makes everything much cheaper, whilst still being fun (e.g. if you don't own a tent, make a fort!).
TIP 3: Food Vouchers
So many restaurants have offers on over the summer months to attract visitors - simply search '*name of restaurant* offers* and google will provide you with a list of codes to screenshot and present when asking for the bill to save a lot of money!

TIP 4: Nectar Points
Not just from Sainsburys! Other points, such as Tesco Clubcard points, often have offers that allow you to spend your points on things to do - at the moment Nectar is offering 2 cinema tickets/main courses at Pizza Express for just £5 worth of points! That's a potential full date night for free (or £10 worth of points)!

How do you save money?

Love, E X
